ThinkWorks Executives to Deliver Keynote to Evaluators
May 22nd, 2008
Albuquerque, NM -- ThinkWorks executives Derek Cabrera and Laura Colosi will kick off the 2008 Summer Conference of the
New Mexico Evaluators Association on Friday, June 20 with a keynote address entitled "Simple Rules for 21st Century Thinking." Immediately after the talk, participants will have a chance to put those rules to use in their professional practice while the pairs leads a workshop called "The Simple Rules for 21st Century Thinking: Building Blocks for Evaluators."
According to the organization's website, the theme of the day-long conference is "New Evaluation Horizons for Evaluators and Program Managers." The ThinkWorks CEO and COO will explore simple and universal rules
that underlie the construction of ideas. Drawing on their research in cognition, nonlinear systems, education, and evaluation as well as insights from their every day experiences, they explain four simple rules that shape how individuals think about the world and how these insights affect the work of evaluators. Participants will learn how to expand their ability to problem solve, innovate, and conduct robust evaluations.
During the workshop, the ThinkWorks executives will teach participants to use hands-on tools they can use to change the way they conceptualize and conduct evaluations. Participants will use ThinkBlocks to model and reach a deeper understanding of their profession.
Cabrera and Colosi have shared their ideas with evaluators in the past and are excited about the opportunity to further the relationship. "The response to our talk in Baltimore was amazing," said Colosi, referring to their presentation at last year's annual conference of the American Evaluation Association, Evaluation 2007. "My background is in evaluations, so I enjoy bringing these powerful insights into universal thinking skills to this audience."
Founded in 2004, the New Mexico Evaluators Association is affiliated with the American Evaluation Association. The group aims to "to provide a statewide, multicultural, interdisciplinary forum for professional development and networking in the field of evaluation." More information about the keynote, workshop and other events is available through the conference announcement. Early-bird registration is available through the end of May.
