Tom and Ray Magliozzi
1977
In 1977, a small public radio station in Boston invited several local car mechanics, including brothers Tom and Ray Magliozzi, in to answer questions as panelists on a call-in radio show. The show was so popular that the station invited brothers to start their own show, called Car Talk. With their thick Boston accents, goofy sense of humor, and ability to explain the complexities of auto mechanics in laymen's terms, Car Talk became more and more popular over the years, eventually reaching national syndication in 1987.
