Pablo Picasso
1907
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) is best known for his cubist paintings, representatives of a style of painting that he first developed. However, he was an artist from a very early age, and his early works, as well as some of his late works, were highly realistic. Picasso played and experimented with different styles, materials, and forms throughout his life. One of his most influential paintings was Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, which shows the influence of Egyptian, African, early Iberian, and Impressionist art, and is considered by many to be the beginning of the cubist movement.
Our Thoughts...
Today, we think of Picasso as having a distinct style. We say things like, "that is a Picasso" or "that looks like a Picasso." Yet, while Picasso's paintings do reflect a distinct style, the distinction did not always exist. Picasso created it by interrelating different methods, styles and materials and different perspectives and influences. Simply put, the distinction that is Picasso is a complex system of interrelationships and perspectives. ThinkBlocks offer a unique design based on essential patterns of how knowledge is constructed that help us to deconstruct any distinction based on its interrelationships, systems and perspectives.
